Happy New Year!

I’m still here! It’s just that I’ve been too busy to catch up on blog posts, but I haven’t abandoned it! More to come later.

Once the new auxiliary fuel tank was finished, I loaded up the Land Yacht to take new gear to the boat. And of course, to return an equal volume of gear to storage. For everything loaded on to the boat, something must come off. Then made a quick three-day drive to Sonora, though Oregon, Nevada, and Arizona.

It’s getting way too late in the year. The ranges in the “basin and range” country are already frosted with snow. Last year when I drove through Nevada, the temperatures were around 114°F. This year, they are as low as 18°. Almost 100 degrees difference! Good stars at night though.

Just a random observation… the “open range” signs in Nevada have a picture of a bull. The ones in Oregon have a picture of a cow. What does this mean? Things to ponder while you’re staring through the windshield all day. Maybe it has to do with great cheese vs bullshit.

Anyway, I’ve been working away in the boat yard in Puerto Peñasco for a month. I thought it would take two weeks! Probably should have started this work in September (although there were still hurricanes spinning up in Mexico). But things are coming together at last. More on that later. Just drove the Land Yacht back to Oregon for storage. Good grief it’s cold! I had to get out some shoes and socks! Not to mention long woolies. Winterizing the Base Camp and organizing the storage shed.

Flying back to the boat next week.
